This strategic move underscores the organization’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of sustainability and transparency in the cotton industry.
Transition to Better Cotton Certification Program and its Benefits
With the new regulations introduced by the European Union, many requirements have been determined for the use of sustainability labels in the future and have encouraged the transition to the certification program. These new regulations and directives have initiated the work for the new certification program.
Better Cotton completed the Certification Transition on February 3, 2025 and developed the Supply Chain Audit. Among the reasons for the Third-party certification approach of Better Cotton; increasing impartiality and independence, the requirements of new legislation, farmers who grow Better Cotton, suppliers who process it and fashion retailers and brands who use it in their products, guarantee that robust controls are applied at every step from the farm to the label you see in your favorite stores. This provides confidence to both companies that invest in Better Cotton and want to announce it, as well as to their consumers. With the new certification approach, all certification audits, evaluations and decisions for the 2025/2026 season will be carried out by third-party certification organizations.
